    Alyssa, I am in the same position....I am hiking solo and I know that it would put my parents minds at ease if I at least started with someone...Maybe we can chat sometime and see if our plans will line up....

    No bills beyond my vehicle. Responsibility is relative. Same age.

    I have 5k banked for the hike (plus extra for that vehicle payment). I'm in the process of saving for time 'after' while I look for a new job. If I didn't need to save for life off the trail when I'm done ... then I'd be making my thru-hike attempt this year instead of 2013.

    Yes to the approach trail unless my (possible) hiking partner doesn't want to add to it.
    My trail doesn't stop at Katahdin. I'll be hiking down from there and then on to Bar Harbor, ME.

    Since I will be hiking while on terminal leave....I will be collecting my ENTIRE paycheck for my ENTIRE hike.....now that is the way to live!!!! Thank you Uncle Sam!!!

    Hello Class of 2013! Congratulations on an adventure of a lifetime.

    Trail Name - Moose (same as I've used before)
    Direction - Northbound
    Estimated Start Date - April 20
    Approach Trail - Not sure yet. I've not done it before. Maybe this is the year
    any additional info that you want the world to know - Celebrating the tenth anniversay of my first thru hike. Can't think of a better way than doing it again. More importantly, celebrating the life of two of my friends from that hike, Survivor and Buffalo Bobby, who are no longer with us.
