Why do you post here at WhiteBlaze?
To ask questions, to get new insights, to debate the merits of different approaches, to learn about the trail, and then to try to give back what I've learned or think to others. I read postings in order to distract me from the daily grind.

1. I find many of the folks here interesting. It's a community of sorts.Originally Posted by Tim Rich
2. To try and learn more about hikers. What they are interested in. What motivates them.
3. It's a form of entertainment.
4. It's a place where I can try and publicize trails in the SE other than the Appalachian Trail. That is part of my job.
5. To learn about different things happening in the hiking community, and in & around the trail. There is lots of good information exchanged here.

That was quick! My post apparently went out before the poll.Originally Posted by Kerosene

I'm no expert on thruhiking, but seventeen years of section hiking has given a little insight in getting to the trailhead.
Sorry, None of your answers seem to fit. I post because I enjoy the trail and like to chat about it, and promote ways to make it better.

Hey, if you like them all, you can check them all! An "all of the above" option when you're allowed to check them all would be like slackpacking...Originally Posted by Streamweaver
There's no "other" option though....LOL.
I post here because of a certain hiker I support.
No problem, can't make them all fit. I've seen you provide help and answer questions, though, and occasionally you look smart...Originally Posted by weary
I think you should have a note that says: "check all that apply" and add one more choice, "other", just to cover everything. I personally don't fully understand the first coice, "it beats work" because it hasn't applied to me for years.
I put a "choose all that apply" tag up at the top of the poll. Is it not showing up? Of course, I've yet to see a poll that didn't get "appraised" by the folks here...Originally Posted by The Old Fhart
I've got eleven voters with 29 votes right now. The tag must be showing up, or the Chicago precincts are coming in early...Originally Posted by Tim Rich
Oops, my bad! I read the title of the post, skipped right to the list of answers, and missed the line that said "choose all that apply." Mia culpa, mia culpa.

Okay. So now I've checked all the choices, which sort of represents why I'm here.Originally Posted by Tim Rich

I checked all but Debate and Stir the Pot.
-Mostly to prepare for my thru-hike '06. Checking in here every now and then reminds me of what long distance is like on the AT.

Why? To strir up s**t of course. Certainly not to learn anything.
