Lightbulb Any 2012 Thru Hike Blogs?

I am planning a 2013 thru hike and since deciding to go I found a couple of great blogs people wrote during their thru hikes in 2011 so I thought I would throw out a post and see if people have a thru hike blog they are going to follow for 2012?

It can be great info for those planning a thru hike and maybe good support for those that are actually hiking.

I should mention - some of those are old/havent been updated in some time, but are listed as 2012 for some reason.

I depart for my thru in exactly one month, but I've already started posting. Thanks for asking and good luck with your planning.

Thanks for all the journals. It should be fun watching them as they progress.

I have been watching a couple of hikers over at trailjournals.com that started the AT on Jan 1, 2012. They seem to be doing pretty well but the weather has turned really bad this past week. I wish them all well. Be safe!

Thanks for listing these. A lot of the ones on Trail Journals are not active or being updated.

I only have four prehike pages right now but my daughter will be updating after my hike begins.

    My journal:

And yes, I know my Whiteblaze ID doesn't match my trail name. Sigh - hindsight, 20/20, and all that jazz.

Really, thanks to all who have posted. Looking forward to following all of you! Best of luck on your adventure and remember, focus on the few miles a day, and the 2100+ miles will take care of itself.

This is a real favorite of mine so far -- Seek It's ongoing journal for his 2012 AT hike:

    http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=365515

It's very well written and thoughtful. It's organization is very effective too -- at the bottom of each journal entry he has GPS track data overlayed onto a Google terrain map showing what he has hiked that day. And there are points marked on these maps that you can click on to view photos from that spot on the trail (and the photos are quite good). Extremely well done.

And this account is for an unusual hike. He is doing an out and back hike every day, so that if he finishes as he plans he will have hiked the entire trail both northbound and southbound with a day pack by the end of the year. He is providing vehicle support for himself -- most nights sleeping in his vehicle either at a trail head or in a nearby town.

I think a lot of WB members would enjoy this journal/blog. And as an added bonus, moof53, maybe you can particularly relate to this guy because he is about your age (he's in his early 60s).
