Does anyone know anything about trailphone.net??? It looks like it is a good idea but I am wondering if anyone has used this while on the trail.

Yes, I used TrailPhone.net during my 2010 section hike. Didn't use it in May 2011 as it wasn't back up. In the Fall of 2010, the backpackers that maintain it lost one of the key Internet services that made it work. Everything has been re-engineered and works. On their Twitter stream they posted in June that TrailPhone was functional and they would be publicizing it shortly.
