Default Any current reports on trail from Deep Gap to Fontana lake?

Two of us 63 year old newbies ( have only done GA AT in May so far) doing Deep Gap to Fonatana in three weeks. (step two of 10 year, 20+ step plan).

Guessing it will get to 35 or so at night with lots of rain ( hope not!)
Planning on carrying minimum water as there appears to be many sources
    Thanks for any info.

Water has become a real issue on this part of the trail, according to sereval section hikers I have met during the last few weeks. I would plan on carrying more water and tanking up/cameling up at every opportunity. Weather can be all over the place. Pay attention to the long range forecast right before you go. Watch out for cold fronts this time of year. Have fun.

I can't speak for your entire planned section. I did go from Winding Staircase to NOC this weekend without a problem. The water sources where great. Hope that helps. Enjoy your hike!
