I was last there in March of 2009, we were able to enter without B&E.

When was that? I haven't been there since 2008, but it was always open the many times I've visited there before, and if the weather was decent, it always made for a real trip highlight. It would be a shame if it were regularly locked now.
If people spent less time being offended and more time actually living, we'd all be a whole lot happier!

I was there last in 2009 & the top was unlocked & the underneather was locked. I had a great sunset dinner before night hiking into Davenport Gap. I think they leave it unlocked for anyone who might need to take refuge in foul weather, I wouldn't hesitate to stay the night there in foul weather.
