From the Baxter State Park Authority:
"The Hunt and Abol Trails providing access to Baxter Peak will open for hiking on Saturday, May 28. Patches of snow and wet conditions may be encountered on these trails, hikers are advised to exercise caution and good judgment. Areas of these trails on the treeless Tableland below Baxter Peak may be wet from recently thawed snow. [...] The Knife Edge Trail on Katahdin remains closed to hiking traffic until additional trails to Chimney Pond are opened so that hikers caught in bad or worsening weather have available options to reach more sheltered areas. Trails on the north side of Katahdin including Chimney, Hamlin Ridge, Dudley, Cathedral, and Saddle Trails remain closed due to snow in the Great Basin of Katahdin. Rangers will continue to check trail status as the season progresses."
"All Public Access Roads in the Park are now open. We thank all Park visitors for their patience as we have worked to open the Park this spring."

Though much is taken, much abides, and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts.
