    Default Trails in the Sawtooths?

This is a question springing from total ignorance of Idaho and its wonders. Are there any muti-day hiking trails in the Sawtooth range in Idaho? I'm thinking about visiting a friend in Boise in 2012, and would like to do some backpacking while I'm there.

i've hiked a couple of trails in Idaho in the Bitteroots.
    But not in the Sawtooths.
THe Selway river trail is a nice one.

Usually when I go to Idaho, it's for the whitewater.
It seemed a fairly easy trail but beautiful.

Good suggestion. Looks as if there's a big chunk of the Idaho Centennial Trail through the Sawtooth Wilderness.

The photos of Idaho are incredible. It should be an interesting trip.

There are tons of trails in the Sawtooths, if I remember correctly there is a book specifically for the trails in the Sawtooths, check the local gear shops in Boise or maybe even in Stanley. I second the vote for Borah, or any of the peaks in that general area.

I'm taking a careful look at thru-hiking the Idaho Centennial Trail. From what I've found so far it's just my kind of thru-hike without having to committ to a 4-5 month hike!

There are a bunch of trails in the Sawtooths. You can go out for a few days - or weeks piecing them together. Great fishing too if you like trout! I've climbed Borah a few times as well- its a favorite.

Sawtooths has got to be the most overlooked mountain range I've ever heard of. I feel the same way about Idaho.

Take a look at the pictures in the links on this post by trailangelbronco, gorgeous country. I've got to get there someday.

1.Selway River Trail. 50 miles along the Selway River, some of the most remote wilderness in the world. From Race Creek in Idaho to the Montana border, this trail has not much elevation loss or gain, but is beautiful the whole way. Because of the low elevation, it is one of the first trails to be clear of snow each spring.

2.Seven Devils Loop. Lots of elevation gain and loss. Beauty with alot of climbing possibilities as well. There is still a body of a hiker to be found up there. They found his dog still alive in October.

3.Toxaway Petitt Loop Actually one of my favorite hikes. Gorgeous views in the Sawtooths of Idaho with lots of side trail options. You could easily hike in here and spend a month hiking, and not want to go back home.

    4. Grand Sawtooth Loop No description needed, just click the pics.

5.Big Baldy-Indian Creek Loop 52 miles of serious elevation gain, and not many people. When I did this hike, I only saw three people in five days. Very remote area, largest protected wilderness area in the lower 48 states!
