My record is simply my own 54 days, 21 hours, 12 minutes, so 5th fastest, not even close to all the others...hopefully next time though.
I guess Toli you win the award for being the Naysayer, there always is one, that's how the ball bounces. Jen ran/hiked, whatever you want to call it, 2181 miles very fast, whether she carried her own bottle or food is her own choice, because it was a "supported hike", that's what supported means.
Iraq is a bit different guy! c'mon think about it. Everyone who goes to Iraq to fight, protect or whatever is a hero, and wouldn't it be kinda dumb if they had a support crew to carry their guns. Dumb comparison, try again.
Thanks for checking in, Karl. I'm sure you went to school on how Jen and her crew planned and executed her hike. To my untrained eyes it looked pretty much like near ideal - I can only think of one time, in NY near the CT border, where a mistake by the crew cost Jen any time or significant inconvenience. That's superb.
It's awesome to hear Jen has that huge smile locked in. Well deserved. She is a star, for sure.
The more miles, the merrier!

Supported/unsupported does not really matter. I don't know if any hiker who has not take some sort of help such as using a shelter vs carrying a tent, or staying at a hostel and getting a real meal or, even taking trail magic. I've see thru hikers with 18 lbs. packs (fully loaded) but I carry 40 lbs. does that make them less of a hiker than me? I don't think so. She set out with a goal and achieved it as she planned. She did not say she was doing it one way and actually do it another. So I give her all the credit she deserves for doing what she did and am happily amazed
I didn't see Jennifer this morning on CBS . Will she be on tomorrow ? David
