Any additional info that you want the world to know:

    1. I walk slow - so wave as you pass me by
    2. I'm from the UK (mostly) so will be oohing and ahhing at big sceneries we don't have over here - feel free to shake you head in dismay at the silly tourist.
    3. I don't seem to produce my own body heat, so don't be surprised to see me in a down jacket in the height of summer!

    See you on the trail!
I'm pretty sure I'll be the one YOU can wave to, as I walk slower than a turtle with a limp.
Hope to see ya out there!!!

I'm thinking April 3rd, as I am released from active duty on the 2nd.
Never been to Amicalola, but I'm a traditionalist, will likely do the approach.

Currently in Afghanistan, tired of military life after 9 years, want to spend time in the outdoors and actually be able to 'enjoy it.' Finally registered and have been telling many people this is my goal, hopefully this will push me past dreaming to actually getting on the trail. I'm really excited about this, and have not been this excited about anything in a long time.

    Good Luck to all !
Hi Joe! Hope to see you out there next spring!! Thank you for your service. I am a Marine Corps brat and both my parents are from Kanawha County WV. I'm from Waynesboro area VA so I can't wait to get to SNP. Even though I'm leaving Springer earlier (March 01) I'm sure you will pass me eventually bwahahaha. Stay safe and see ya at Springer 2012!

    Hey Scratch~
I'd be more than happy to start out with ya, 40 y/o female here, but I'm never done anything like this before. I have a few miles and some cool places in SNP VA to my name but that's about it. Eager to learn but gonna pace myself. I'm completely sure you will pass me on day 2 -- if not sooner! Anyway, feel free to add me to your friends if it makes your parents happier Hope to see ya up there either way! 2012 whoo hoo!!!!!

So far it looks like I will have a ride all the way to Springer. If I see anybody on Feb 29/Mar 01 I will pick you up for free. Smoke grey Toyota Scion hatchback. (small but efficient).

    Trail Name - One Step
    Direction - NOBO

Estimated Start Date - March 15

I've been traveling on a sailboat for the last 3 years and I think that it's time to try something a bit bigger. I've been thinking about the trail for the last 30 years and 2012 seems like a good year to try it.

Well if my clearance goes through in the next couple of weeks (and it should), it looks like I'll be deploying one last time.

Please scratch my name off the list for 2012, I'll be out there bright and early in 2013

Couldn't see if i replied to this post or not, so here it goes ...

    Trail Name - darkage
    Direction - NOBO
Estimated Start Date - March 15 (Seen alot of people leaving on this date, i might try for more of a late april) Picked the 15th for trail days ...

I've been a long section hiker for the last 4-5 years, hiking previously on day trips and general camping. I just spend 3 weeks in south california doing some backpacking getting ready for 2012 ... I'm bout as ready i can get without just packing and heading out right now ... won't be long, soon enough. Look for my brother and I as well as a 90% chance you'll see us with my dog koa ... Still up in the air on that, not cause of the dog .. but my needs for services along the way would be handicaped, but my goal is see what i can see but never waste time in towns, hostels are for showers and clothes and move on ... reason i carry a tent, i'm gonna use it the whole trip .. see ya out there!
