    Default Dreaming of 2012

I wanna to get started! First, 15 months of saving and preparation!
I boiled my first cup of tea with my Trangia Mini last night in my apartment! ha. Climbing a small mountain next Sunday.

My girlfriend is warming to the idea of a month with me on the trail.

Sitting here with a big disgusting head cold watching all the Appalachian Trail vids on Youtube I can before work tonight.

    Starting around mid March 2012.

In summary.... I just wanted to say.... I CANīT WAIT!

    I can't wait either.

Lots of prep to do. And plenty of weekends to hit the local trails, and 4 weeks vacation time this year to go on longer trips. Preparing the food and mail drops, testing the equipment, and day dreaming about the trail... all part of the adventure.

The anticipation seems like half the fun, really can't wait to get out there and have all my illusions destroyed.

It is much better to have your dreams destroyed than to never have any dreams to begin with.

don't give yourself a trail name, let it come organically...

I'm sure that'll end up happening. I know I'll end up with dogcraparse or mosquitonostrilinjury or tentpolebuttock... something like that

My actual last name is "Gale" so I've been Storm all my life and it's as good as any for a trail name.

does a midweek start mean a less bunched up group at the beginning?

    I think it's so interesting. I'm kinda interested... maybe I'll re-read twilight.

I'm not sure. I hit the Trail March 13 - a Tuesday. I haven't read that anyone on WB will depart on that day, so perhaps a mid-week departure will be less crowded. However, the folks at the Hiker Hostel told me that between March 1 and the middle of April they are always operating at full occupancy, so perhaps not.I am going under the assumption that if people are taking 6 months off from work, any day is just like any other day. (But it would be nice if the Trail would be less crowded then, wouldn't it?)

now that i can completely agree with, with the addition that one has the courage and determination to chase those dreams.

I am very excited also about my start in may 2012, but admittedly a little (ok, a lot) scared about facing the struggles I imagine are waiting for me out there.

I guess time will tell. To hell with all this waiting. let's get on with it already!
