    Question Dalgreen Center, MD

Located just south of MD route 40, over a mile south of Washington Monument State Park (which is worth the .1 mile diversion).

I camped here a couple of times, back when the shower/bathroom bldg was open. Someone told me that it was shut down for good, not just for the winter.

    Can anyone confirm or deny???

It was all open in 2001 and 2003 when I was there. I camped there in 01' and although it is a great little campsite, be aware that the police/local sheriff does do rounds since it's a state campsite. It was kinda freaky to have a car driving into the site and headlights shining thru my tent.

Great spot to grab a shower and if you've got the extra money, the restraunt at the road is pretty darn good!
Anything's within walking distance if you've got the time.

    Default Dahlgren Back Pack Campground

I passed the campground while section-hiking in MD the last week of October this year. The building was open and had HOT SHOWERS!

I remember reading this thread a while back. Just came across a current article about the free hot showers at Dahlgren and the AT. Glad to see it still open and doing well.
