Missing "camper" around Erwin TN
Just ran across this article today in the local news here in Tennessee. Apparently this man is missing near the Erwin area.

Well dang... I hiked the 8 mile section between Indian Grave Gap and Uncle Johnny's yesterday and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. A hunter and 2 hikers - that was it.
Wonder if he went north or south?
I think they said he was planning on walking near the AT. He probably wanted to have an adventure so he decided to go on a bushwack. I think hes alive, just a bit lost.

A good reason to carry a compass around Erwin: If you can walk a straight line in any direction you'll come to a highway before you starve to death.

Prior SAR experience tells me this guy likes to get into the woods and stay there for a while, NOT on or near busy trails
I was just making a statement, not talking about this guy specifically.
And the total bill to taxpayers is???????????????
Way less than the sales tax he paid at the hostel.
