    Default The Duncannon 24

    Date: October 24, 2010
    Event: 1st annual Duncannon 24
    Purpose: none
Logistics: hikers leave the Doyle at noontime of the 24th with goal of reaching Boiling Springs by noon the next day. I might add the hikers must be carrying 24 carbonated refreshments of their choosing. Upon arriving in Boiling Springs, said beverages must be consumed.
Ecology: leave no trace, means you must carry your emptys.
    Political correctness: not applicable
Terrain: actually very easy. 30 mile hike is amost exclusively flat across the valley floor.
Couple of small climbs the entire trip.

I'll get a crew together to do it Northbound. We can meet in the middle & have a party. And at the end, while my crew is sitting in the Doyle enjoying yet another beer, we'll say things like, "I wonder what those guys are up to in Boiling Springs" and "I hope they don't call us to pick them up. We're already drunk."

This possible scenario could add to exciting rules (for instance when passing a hiker going the other way in the Duncannon 24, they must exchange beverages and consume on the spot.) very intersting. I like this.

Remember in the Duncannon 24, there are no winners (some might call us losers) And even a failed attempt will be fun.

Wait I thought that our ATC dues came with like a roadside assistance program where if you arrive drunk at a ATC headquarters they would provide free shuttle service? Why do they have those big vans if they aren't doing this?

    For you gram weenies.
If you can find a way to eliminate the 24 aluminum cans and the cardboard container, you could save 19.72oz.

Seems the "rules" don't say the 24 beverages have to be in their original containers so I'm thinking (3) 3-liter platypus bags should work nicely. Then it would just be (3) drinks instead of (24).

I like this idea...I am looking into seeing if I can make it. Maybe some of my friends from my hometown in PA will want to join.

Another way to eliminate the weight is shotgun all 24 beers first. You won't have much weight to carry, but you sure will be drunk!

I don't want to drink 24 Coors Lights.
Why would anyone want to inflict that on themselves?
    What? Me worry??

if the 24 said beverages were beer, then that would be as lot of calories.

Nox love to see ya buddy. As far as hiking After drinking 24 beers. Well, hike fast, then drink them at the end. If you hike the 30 miles in 10 hours, very possible, given how flat the terrain, then drink them at the end.
