    Question That nylon smell...

Does anyone know of any kind of tip, trick, or home-made remedy for getting rid of, or deminishing the smell that accompanies nylon equipment (jackets, rain-covers, stuff-sacks, etc)?
It's not that I hate that particular smell, but it shure wouldn't be too bad to be able to alleviate or replace it with something a bit more welcome to my nostrils after a day of long hiking.
I'd be very appreciative of any advide i can get on this subject, Thanks!

wear it a couple days when it is really hot

you will be praying for that nylon smell to come back
If you find yourself in a fair fight; your tactics suck.

Something that I've tried that helps is to fill up
a bathtub with hot water and pour in a good bit
of citrus smell dishwashing soap. Dump the stuff
sacks, rain flys whatever in - work the soapy water
into everything and let it soak for an hour or more.

Then drain the water and rinse with a shower nozzle
attachment until all the soap is off. The citrus dishwasher
soap seems to bind to the funk and clean it off.

It's a pain to do the above, but if something gets pretty
    funky smelling, I'll do it.

Be careful what you put on sylnylon. Some will ruin the material/degrade the waterproofing. What would be wrong with just airing it outside? I am old enough to remember what close line dried clothes smelled like, but it is against deed restrictions now. Go figure.
