    Default Very Simple Questions:

In view of the fact that AtTroll is presently thru-hiking (and doing very well at it I might add!) I am curious:

*Who is presently in charge of Whiteblaze?
*Who are the the other Moderators?
*If someone has a question or query about website administration, where and
to whom should these comments be directed?

If this information is presently posted on the website, please forgive the questions, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I'm really quite curious as to who is actually in charge here at present, and I'm sure other people are curious about this also.

Thank you, and I hope this question is being asked in the right place.

P.S. These questions are being asked in a straight-forward manner, and I hope that is how they are answered, whether by Moderators or anyone else.

I couldn't answer the question straight up ya know. But my thoughts here is that sometimes it's good to shift the status quo's around, I don't know Rick, but I keep up with reading these forums and I know what's going on regardless of whether I post anymore these days. It's kinda like the shoes on my car, you got to rotate em every once in a while on you'll wear a bad spot in one and then the tire is worthless.

It is a fair and logical question Jack, but I do not know the answer. I doubt that the answer is written down anywhere on the website, at least clearly. I suspect that your question, even though it is fair and logical, will be interpreted differently, because it is so close in time to your other query, and post. That's just the way it is, unfortunate as it may be.

We have a shopping mall in town here, and on one occassion I wanted to make a complaint to management because of one of the stores, and I was informed at the office that all management were away, and so there was no one to leave a complaint with. This happened just the other day again to someone else. A new store opened up with vulgar language and provocative pictures on clear display to the public, including small children of course, and so he wanted to make a general inquiry and complaint to the management of the mall. He was met with the same defence. No one home. No number to call. There you go.

It is a different age we live in today. Even when you find authority, most often you cannot reason with them in a reasonable manner. The world just doesn't work the way it once did. Everyone is a mall security guard, even those in authority, and you just can't reason with mall cops, and these days, everyone is a mall cop. That's just the way it is.

He is pushing it because authority should be accountable to reason, not just power and market forces.

True, but it is still a fair question.

It was NOT obvious that Jack's post was political.
In my opinion, it was not political at all. It was philosophical.

Alligator wasn't right in this case, but that is not the point.
Alligator wasn't fair, and for that he should be more accountable.

Bad form Alligator. You should have done better.
You could have handled this better, and by PM, but you didn't.

You closed a thread, and wrote a bunch of BS about the stuff you deleted.

It was not political. You were wrong.
    Then you got stupid.

I'm not afraid to stick up for Jack,
and I happen to like Alligator just as much as I like Jack.

I know it isn't easy to be a moderator, but someone has to stand for reason.

All this private business talk these days is bull****.
People need to stand up now and then, even if it does mean getting thrown out.

He did a stupid thing. What's wrong with that? We all do from time to time. That's not the issue. The issue is whether or not he has to operate like a Mall Cop, or whether he can do better. I think he can do better. You seem to think he can't. So who is calling him stupid?

I think we can all do much better.

Maybe you should back off instead of poking at someone like Jack when he is down.

    Emerald:

Thank you for the answer to my original question; this is the information I couldn't find. In that my original queries have been answered (assuming Wolf's pithy comment in Post #8 is correct) have been answered, I see no reason for this thread to remain open.

This place can be wonderful on occasion, when simple questions get simple answers. Pity it doesn't happen more often.

(Oh, and JAK, I'm by no means "down". Having one's comments or threads cut off or ignored on an internet forum is hardly a calamity. I'm about to hit the Trail for 5 weeks tomorrow, so I'm hardly "down", in fact I feel great, but thanx for the thought! )
