still planning, coming from Oregon by train easier to keep gear with me.
Update, decided since coming by train to spend one nite at least at Hikers hostel to catch my breath.
Start will be about March 9th or 10th if I remember the date correctly, trying not to start on a weekend.
Still doing NOBO, glad to see so many doing the same.
Keep the positive mind set that we all finish and Hike our own hike.

LOL! Judging by the preambled information above, all I know is I'm going north sometime next year. (-:
I intended to go SOBO this year after I graduated, but was too chicken to do it. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find a job after I got back if I quit the one I have now.
So, next year I'll be in a much more solid financial position and will surely benefit from an extra year of local hiking experience. I know my pack weight will be a lot lower next year than it would have been if I had left in August like I had planned. Being a newbie to the whole hiking thing and having a lifetime of experience car camping, I went nuts and bought every last little gizmo and doodad I could find. I totally missed the fact that I'd be walking the majority of the time, and need to be comfortable doing that as opposed to being super-comfortable in camp.
So now instead of my 140 lb self lugging 60 lbs of gear & consumables so I can camp in style, I carry a 30 lb pack so I can hike like a champ. My priorities have definitely changed...
Sigh....does posting here make this really real. (please ignore the grammar, never my strong point)
Trail Name: Open to suggestions, I will let the trail name me I think
Direction: NOBO
Start Date: Mid to late February(more than likely weekend of 19 February)
Approach Trail: Depends on weather I suppose
I retire from the Navy 1 January......time will never be better. I need to avoid the heat as much as possibly, hence the reason for the early start.
Am I ready? Who knows if the ever are...
