And one I had not heard of! Thank you for mentioning it!

There's someone who posts of viewsfromthetop.com and backpackinglight.com who linked the Monadnack-Sunapee Greenway as part of a Canada to Long Island sound through hike. It included the Cohos Trail, various trails through the White Mtns. You could take the NS trail and Midstate trail, then hook up to his route.

I can't find it now but there is some sort of trail that goes part way from Mt. Monadnock to Pack Monadnock.

    Check this out:

Two southern termini; one of which is the NST.

EDIT: Didn't realize this was the trail the author did. Ah!

Thanks, Mags. The Monadnock to Pack Monadnock Connector trail is proposed; parts of it are real, parts of it are through private land. So I can almost hike from home to Canada on trails.

I ran across the website last year and have been keeping tabs on how things are going.

Exciting times to be living in New England.

I will be thrilled when sections 10-14 on the MM-Trail are sorted out.

Sounds like an interesting early year warm up trail.

I can't find it now but there is some sort of trail that goes part way from Mt. Monadnock to Pack Monadnock.

Does anybody have the article in link #1 or know how I can access it without paying for a subscription? ….

I am very interested in his connection from Sunappe to the White Mountains and Cohos trail as I'm currently looking into the same thing. My New England Thru Hike, as I'm calling and planning it is a little more involved but involves a lot of his route. I'll be brief but pretty much I'm leaving home and using the CT Blue Trails Metacomet>Mattabesett>Shenipsit>smaller trail connections/roads threw MA>Bigelow>Nipmuck>Natchaug>roads>Quinebaug>Pachau g>RI Narragansett>smaller trails/roads>North South Trail>Midstate>cut around Quabbin Trails>smaller trail systems>M&M Trail>Monadnock-Sunapee>connection to Cohos>Cohos>connection east through ME to eventually connect with AT...

This is years in the making and theres much more to it but the more I plan and look into it the more promising it looks. In short, I'll follow the AT back south and eventually connect back home through CT blue trails but it's much more involved as I want to use alternate trails that pretty much follow/connect back with AT wherever possible, for something different (especially in the Whites). I also want to work out a route back north to the Canadian border in VT so I can take the complete Long Trail south and connect back with the AT again. Then I want to work out a route off the AT somewhere in MA to connect back with the M&M Trail (NET) and follow that south to the East West Trail, that I'm hoping is complete by the time I do this in a few years. The East-West would connect all the way to the Mohawk and AT again and then I'd complete the big awkward loop back home.

My plan is to do it all via my own human power so no rides anywhere (resupplies/hotels/ect) or use of anything motorized. I'm going to kayak across the CT river and maybe even down Westfield n MA to help connect back to AT (haven't looked into much that far yet).

So it would be a huge help to know this guy's route from Sunapee to the Cohos Trail.

Also if anybody has any input/advice/suggestions for me I'd love to hear it

Sounds awesome, LazyLightning. I don't have that article anymore, either, but I remember it all quite well. Drop me a line at [email protected] and I'd love to chat about how I managed some of that connection.
