I completed the trail in the late spring of '09. The trail was absolutlely manicured from ohiopyle to the ski resort. Walking through the resort was the worst do to construction on the mountain top and near horizontal rain. I walked a significat distanc eout of my way to reach a magazine advertised pizza joint..which was closed.

The trail from there was not cleared as much, I thing the trail crews were out mowing just before I reached the end of their day's work.

It was cool crossing the bridge getting honked at by cars.
Of course that's my opinion and I could be wrong.

Driving on the PA turnpike last Friday, I was pleasantly surprised to see the new Laurel Highlands Trail bridge almost finished. Here is a link to some pics from a local snowmobile club.

I've crossed the TP. Make sure you bring some extra when you do.

The original schedule was to have the bridge completed in Dec. 2011. Not sure if that will happen or not.
I'm going to miss going through the culvert under the turnpike, I think it's fun.

Thanx for the info. I recently saw a thread discussing a group hike here and wondered about this. Beats walking through a dank tunnel!

I noticed it a few weeks ago when I drove under the new bridge on the PA turnpike.
