Default Shakedowm hike, January 16-17, Wind Gap- Water Gap

So, I already have a thread going for the January 24-25 shakedown (who knows where that one'll be? Probably going to be a beast, but this one'll be pretty low key and easy)

This one is a smaller, easier shakedown. I want to keep the group size down, anyone who wants to come is welcome, but I want the huge group to be on the 24-25.

These are shakedowns for me to shake down my gear for my thru, but I don't care if you've thu hiked or if you ever will (just no complaining!), you're welcome anyway. Especially if you bring bacon.

The 16-17 of January will be Wind Gap to DWG
As of now, on the 16-17 we have:

    Slugger
    Sluggers Roommate (Barf)
    Shlep
Hobbot? (I think you said you were interested in both)

I will park my car at the trailhead in DWG if someone will pick me up to take me to Water Gap (and I will likewise, take you back to your car in Wind Gap).

This is the thread for the hike January 24-25, Saturday and Sunday.

I am a "yes" for the other trip...still trying to figure out if I can be away both weekends. So, I should be listed as a "maybe" for this one. Winter is finally starting so I am getting excited! Thanks again for organizing the hikes

Sure Hobbot- and I psyched for winter as well! (Although I set up my tent in my yard in anticipation of the snow, got half a foot, and was kinda crushed... as one friend said, it tried to snuggle me- to death) But this time... drumroll... I may be HAMMOCKING. <gasp> Yes, I may be going over to the dark side. (Joining you hobbot!)

I'm hoping to go on one of your hikes, not sure which one yet though. I'm sorry I missed the last one, I was looking forward to it. Just a tip if you are planning to hammock, definitely do a test run in your back yard for the cold. My bag is good to 20' but only about 35' in my hammock. Then I just add clothes.

put me as a maybe on this one too. not sure if I can get out two weekends in a row, but I'd love to try! And if I go, I'll shuttle you from Water Gap to Wind Gap.

So, I'll be PMing y'all my cell number soon, and things you should know:
-I rarely answer my phone, unless I'm waiting for a call, but if you leave a message and need me to call back, I definitely will.
-Another thing, leave a message with your trailname, because if you say "jonathan" is calling, I will have no idea who you are.
-I'll check this site and my PMs the morning before I have to leave, but don't count on it. If you don't get a response to a private message about not being there, please call or text me.
-If you are going to bail at all, PLEASE CALL ME.
-If you know you can't make it, PLEASE call BEFORE we're supposed to have started on the trail.

PS- If you're late and we start, just try to catch up, I can pretty much guarantee that you can catch up with me. I'm getting excited!

If it snowed by the DWG anything like it did in Philly suburbs we could be looking at hiking in waist high snow!

    I'm super excited.

Side note I'm a slower hiker so If we have a night time meeting point feel free to leave me and I'll mozy my way to the sleeping spot sooner or later.

Glad to be part of this, I am hoping for snow. I did a few miles in thigh deep snow today, exhausting! But fun as heck. After this I will be hiking a few more days to Culvers Gap in NJ.

    Thanks SL

Hope that there is good snow may smooth out a few of the famous rock patched between wind gap and fox gap.

this is my least favorite stretch, but its much more bearable in the winter, esp. if there's snow. hope you have a great hike.

Yeah can't say that I have heard many good things about this stretch but what the hell got to do it at some point if I plan on doing the whole thing might as well get it behind me.

Cool is there a pretty clear path to follow down to the bottom or do you just kind of bushwack it?
