    Default AT Museum

I met up with some other PATC members to check out the museum and to hike on Sunday. Sorry I missed meeting some of you folks, whose names are so well-known on here. Nice job.....so neat to see such a display of AT history.

That article sucks...it doesn't even mention who reassembled the shelter.

    Here's a better article:

Thank you camojack for all the hard work you did to preserve Earol's shelter. I saw the shelter on opening day and it looked just fine.

Thank you, my friend...but all I did was help.
    (Disassemble, store, reassemble, etc.)

There were a lot of people involved in the shelter project; I wasn't even the one who did the most, although I was probably a close second.

    Why is it important who?
Nobody mentioned all the others who put together exibits. Many worked hard and gave time, lots of it- to make the museum a reality.

I'm pretty sure you must be joking.

A FEW GRAND OPENING NEWS RELEASES

We even made the " Los Angeles Times ", which really says something about the interest value the Appalachian Trail Museum has created NATIONALLY ! Here are a few I found from the Museum press manager, Joe Patterson.

I posted some of the pictures I took - http://twchikers.com/atmuseum/ - 1277 through 1296 are from the opening ceremony. 1306 through 1318 are at the Ironmaster's Mansion being remodeled - 1306 & 1309 show the area used by the Underground Railroad in the Mansion. I have not listed the names of people in the photos, but I will answer personal messages or emails.

Can't let Larry get all of the glory.

Seriously though, "Ishmael" should get some credit, at least...

I don't think Larry got any credit for moving the shelter...

Earl is the one who gets and deserves the credit for that exibit.

You guys did an awesome job- thank you!!!!!

Larry did help to move the pieces of the shelter, too...a lot of people did. And of course Larry was/is the driving force behind the A.T. Museum becoming a reality.

Anyway, you're welcome; it was a "labor of love", as they say.

I took particular pleasure in removing the floor, knowing how much Earl hated that...

Some pictures of the inside of the Museum .. nice. I'm not sure why I didn't pull my camera out when I was walking around looking at the displays.

    POST MUSEUM GRAND OPENING

First, "THANKYOU" to our many, many volunteer supporters of our Appalachian Trail Museum. As Trail Angel Mary pointed out, Rich Evans, museum treasurer noted at the post opening business meeting, the expected opening of our museum was predicated to cost $500,000 AND WE DID IT FOR $50,000 and LOTS OF VOLUNTEERED MAN-HOURS ! KUDOS ALL AROUND .

Here is the latest NOTICE form the Museum office ~ coming-up special program ( see attachment ) .

DONOR FUND PLAQUE ~O O~ STILL TIME TO BE ON IT !

There is still time to have your name listed on the Donor Fund plaque ( which will reside PERMANENTLY in the Appalachian Trail Museum ! ) .

    DEADLINE = DECEMBER 21, 2010 ~~ so this "campaign-to-raise-funds" CONTINUES !

The A. T. Museum needs to cover day-to-day operations and other unforseen expences as they may arise . We would like to have a good breathing room of having 2 years of operations covered .

To you who are on the plaque : consider up-grading your donor level ?
There is time now ~ BUT there is the Dec. 21, 2010 DEADLINE

Below are two attachments of forms ~ 1 is the Museum membership form and one is the Donor Fund form (please ignore the out-dated top 1/2 ~ we are post-grand-opening, obviously ) . NOTE : The address on both is that of our A. T. Museum treasurer, Richard Evans . ~~OR you may mail them directly to the A. T. Museum at :
    Appalachian Trail Museum
    1120 Pine Grove Road
    Gardners, PA 17324-9078
MAKE CHECKS OUT TO : A. T. Museum

    HAPPY TRAILS !
