I met up with some other PATC members to check out the museum and to hike on Sunday. Sorry I missed meeting some of you folks, whose names are so well-known on here. Nice job.....so neat to see such a display of AT history.

That article sucks...it doesn't even mention who reassembled the shelter.
Here's a better article:

Thank you camojack for all the hard work you did to preserve Earol's shelter. I saw the shelter on opening day and it looked just fine.

A FEW GRAND OPENING NEWS RELEASES
We even made the " Los Angeles Times ", which really says something about the interest value the Appalachian Trail Museum has created NATIONALLY ! Here are a few I found from the Museum press manager, Joe Patterson.
~Robert Croyle"Red Wolf"
I posted some of the pictures I took - http://twchikers.com/atmuseum/ - 1277 through 1296 are from the opening ceremony. 1306 through 1318 are at the Ironmaster's Mansion being remodeled - 1306 & 1309 show the area used by the Underground Railroad in the Mansion. I have not listed the names of people in the photos, but I will answer personal messages or emails.
Larry did help to move the pieces of the shelter, too...a lot of people did. And of course Larry was/is the driving force behind the A.T. Museum becoming a reality.
Anyway, you're welcome; it was a "labor of love", as they say.
I took particular pleasure in removing the floor, knowing how much Earl hated that...

Some pictures of the inside of the Museum .. nice. I'm not sure why I didn't pull my camera out when I was walking around looking at the displays.

POST MUSEUM GRAND OPENING
First, "THANKYOU" to our many, many volunteer supporters of our Appalachian Trail Museum. As Trail Angel Mary pointed out, Rich Evans, museum treasurer noted at the post opening business meeting, the expected opening of our museum was predicated to cost $500,000 AND WE DID IT FOR $50,000 and LOTS OF VOLUNTEERED MAN-HOURS ! KUDOS ALL AROUND .
Here is the latest NOTICE form the Museum office ~ coming-up special program ( see attachment ) .

To you who are on the plaque : consider up-grading your donor level ?
There is time now ~ BUT there is the Dec. 21, 2010 DEADLINE
