People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. George Orwell
There is nothing quite like the positive energy felt when a bunch of AT folks get together. Although my time there (3:30 Saturday afternoon to 9:30 Sunday morning) was short, it was worth every mile to and from. There are dozens of you whom I had hoped to meet for the first time who either weren't there at all or were off doing something else when I would have had an opportunity, but that's the price of arriving late and leaving early. Let's put it this way: If I didn't meet you for the first time or get to see you again (Waterfall, Sheltowee, and Wee Hiker Babe, for instance), then I am not happy about it. I hope our paths will cross while I'm hiking the trail this year. Thank you, Sly, for your tireless (?) efforts. It was good.--Kinnickinic

It was great seeing/meeting everyone!
Kinnickinic- If you could use a hand when you're near the Smokies, please give me a shout. BTW, Scout (the wee hiker babe) is a little doll.
Hope to post my pics on facebook soon.
We had a great time. Thank you Sly for your organizing skill and many thanks to the ladies in the kitchen who made sure we were so well fed.

We were some of the last to leave today. Someone left behind a coat. If it was you, send me a PM.
Thank you, Sly! It was an excellent weekend. The weather even cooperated to an unusual degree, ushering in the earliest signs of spring.
It was good to see old friends, and to meet some new people, and even that newly-arrived person, the beautiful and extremely good-natured Scout/Anne.
I immediately started reading Winton's book and am delighted with it. It's a keeper. My husband was in stitches this evening when I read the MS chapter aloud to him.
We should all be fired up to get out and do some hiking!
If not NOW, then WHEN?

Belew, you're a gentleman and a scholar. But don't worry, I won't tell anyone.
