"Hey honey, could you hand me my passport? I'm going Hiking on the AT."

    Here's what it says:

    1. hiking the appalachian trail Refers to someone's infidelity
"Did you hear about Mark's divorce? He was caught hiking the Appalachian trail."

    Or this:

    5. Hiking the Appalachian Trail:

Code used by persons who claim to be participating in vigorous, solitary outdoor activities to escape stress when in fact they are carrying on hot and heavy clandestine affairs in foreign countries (preferably located in South America).

On Saturday, Jenna tried six times to get in touch with her boyfriend, Mike, but he had already told us he was hiking the Appalachian Trail this weekend so we knew his phone would be off.

If you are to participate in any elicit extra marital affairs in Europe you must state that you are in fact Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail....it is not transferable slang to use Appalachian trail in these circumstances

Here's how we, the hikers, turn it around:

"Going to Argentina" can be the new slang for ACTUALLY hiking the A.T.
    --There is always more uphill.
