I love numbers, facts, and all of that junk... so I keep a running tally of a wide variety of useless stuff... you may find this stupid.
I have on my thru-hike... thus far... met hikers going from GA-ME from 45 out of the 50 states, 8 countries, and 4 Continents.
Most common home-states are PA, Ohio, NC, and to my suprise over 15 Michigan thru-hikers!
Most common profession retired or current military, teachers, and the younger group of hikers 20-30 over a dozen majored and are looking for jobs in environmental studies.
Common universities- Clemson, Va tech, App. State, Michigan, and UGA... all with 3 or more thru-hikers as Alum.
As for wild life... I have seen 33 snakes (3 rattlers and 1 copperhead... all photographed)
7 bear (some great photos)
A fox, many turtles, a trillion deer (several nice bucks) and the damn Rabid coon that chomped my skull!!!
I will get around to uploading pics of some of this stuff when I get a chance.
At the ATC I was #434... it took me around 70 days to get from Springer to Harper's.
I don't know if this is interesting... but I figured I'd post it
Godspeed
