This is just an odd story all around. His wife said she did not know where he is? So whats up with that. I think he just needed some time alone on the trail hope it helps him make some wise decisions. lol

You mean like putting the needs of the people of SC ahead of his neocon ideology?

I guess when you gotta blow off some steam ya just go hike.

It sure beats finding him drunk on the roads or other stupid crap some of our elected officials do.

I would have told someone though.

I'm sure his location is well known by the right folks. If I were him I would have chosen the Foothills Trail, only I would have waited for Autumn.

I love it. Take another road to another place, disappear without a trace. He probably did tell someone, but they are most likely a good enough friend to leave him the hell alone for a few days.

Yep, he could've done worse! Better than pulling a Spitzer and getting the aka name of "Client-9!"

I wish he'd stay on the AT...for the next two years or so.

I wonder what his political view is of shelters?

Hey, I'm glad he's hiking and hope that he has a good time. IMHO, I think that it is a good thing for a few of our political leaders to have some first hand contact with the AT or other National Scenic Trails. I hope that it helps him to recharge a bit . . . that is one of the reasons that I hike, and I suspect the same is true for many of you. I do find it a bit sad and hypocritical that many folks are slamming him for this. I wonder how some of these same critics would have reacted if a high profile politician from the left were hiking.
