The story goes that he recorded all the nebraska songs with the band but couldn't get it quite right, and pulled the tape out of his pocket and said something like "I think we've got it right here."

Must have sounded damn good on vinyl when I was filling up plastic pants

Jerry Garcia is an American genius. His lifestyle has nothing to do with his musical abilities or the music he produced in his lifetime. Ted may be considered a "patriot" by some but that has no effect on the fact his music is horrid. Jerry may have had the self-control of an infant, but the music he made will be listened to long after Teddyboy's name is forgotten.

Seems as if we are confusing the person with the music. If you think Jerry Garcia's music sucks LW there is no hope for your musical tastes. They must be damaged beyond all repair. Junkie, sure, fantastic musician, beyond doubt.

Lots of worthwhile people were/are junkies. Just a disease of the weak. No bearing on their work output. Jerry was a genius, recognized by serious musicians everywhere. Played jazz, bluegrass, the blues with the best of 'em. His personality blurs his talent. He was scary good.

Catscratch Fever -------noooooooooooo. Skinny, alive talentless fraud.

..or listen to it streamed for free at songza.com. If you like it, you can buy it there, too.

...gonna cue up the suggestion. Thanks!

(my suggestion? SUNRISE by Mark Lanegan off WHISKEY FOR THE HOLY GHOST. Damn bleak album. But great stuff).
