Listen to something like THE RIVER and (at least for me) it is hard not to get said.

Maybe my own personal cultural roots aren't far removed from what he sings about. Dunno, but the music always resonated with me.

In any case, some like chocolate. Some like strawberry.

    It's all good.

Correct. His more pop-y stuff is better known, but most would benefit from a couple listens to Darkness on the Edge of Town, Welcome to Asbury Park, The Wild the innocent and the E Street Shuffle, The River and smattering of more rare stuff like his B sides collection.

Oh yeah, and Born to Run isn't too shabby.

Even his poppy stuff is pretty dark if you look at the lyrics. The catchy chorus just throws people.

GLORY DAYS is always sung at rah-rah sporting events. But the lyrics are about people in a bar talking about there, well, glory days, being many years ago as a baseball player, or the former high school beauty who is now divorced, etc.

BORN IN THE USA is just utterly depressing.

Anyway, not trying to argue on why Springsteen is good or not, just saying his more well known songs have been grossly misinterpreted and is probably not as middle-of-the-road as people think.

I don't know about that. He used to ride his motorcycle up Rte 9W in NYS, and was sometimes seen at Bear Mountain. I'd be very surprised if Bruce doesn't know where the trail is.

    Trying to provoke someone?

IMO, his best stuff is still Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town and Tunnel of Love. I don't like the real early stuff (you can keep Rosalita), and I don't care much for his later stuff. Although The Rising is a GREAT album.

I actually like the Bee Gees. They stick out like a sore thumb with the many other bands I like. Go figure.

You are right. I just read the lyrics. I didn't realize he hated the USA. Figures. A lot these guys make a lot of money off our fellow countrymen by bashing the USA. Try doing the same thing in Iran.

But, now he can be proud of our country. Our new prez said so. The Taliban like him and think we are moving in the right direction.

I don't expect this to be here long. Godwin is watching.

Yep. I thought it was a cool discussion where we gave our opinions both pro and con. Now it is about the Taliban and some other political dreck.

    Not gonna play that...

I'm hoping Glenn Beck will have him back on his new program on FOX. Now that was an insightful hour of TV the last time!

Ted Nugent? That man is a no talent ass-clown. Regardless of whether or not you agree with his politics, he's the rock and roll version of Weird Al.

Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow have more talent in one swath of their shiny outfits than Ted "I like my women young so I can boss 'em around" Nugent will ever know.

Bruce is underrated. Most people are revolted by the rabidness of his fans. Greetings from Asbury Park is a monster album. Just fantastic. But the Pete Seeger stuff just sucks. Old man/NPR-esque self indulgence.

There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond and those who don't. Let's just say I'm not a fan.

You'll be only one member of his entourage. It'd be funny to watch, unless you're a LNT freak.
