Default This Car Climbed Mt. Washington - New Bumper Sticker

I always get annoyed when I see the popular "This Car Climbed Mt. Washington" bumper stickers on cars. I'm sure I'm not the only one! So after seeing another one again today I decided to make this bumper sticker.

    Enjoy!

Come live in the White Mountains, I rarely see them here. The tourists must wait until they're home to put them on.

I think the bumper stickers are great from a used car buyers view. If I ever see a car for sell with that sticker, I definately won't buy it. I hitched up the auto road on my thru to see the summit because I hiked the mt. at night. Smelled so much burning brake pads and smoking rotors that day. Plus the smell of radiator fluid as it blows out of the pressure valve.

I've been up four times, and just twice on the AT, once North, once South.

When I climbed it, I got to the top and immediately saw a car drive over a man's foot and then stop the car on it, unaware that the man was screaming and pounding on the car. Then he moved the car and the walker yelled some more at him. My friend next to me said, "See, this is exactly why cars shouldnt be allowed up here." Although, I'm not really sure why the walking guy allowed his foot to be run over, I think he was to blame as well.

Not sure what the issue is here and why the annoyance. What if the sticker was on a handicapped van??

And why wouldn't one buy a car because it drove up Mt Washington??? As if to say that if someone drives up the auto road and puts a Bumper Sticker on their car, the car has been neglected. Get real.

I've been up the auto road 3 times. The first was with our 1 year old, the second was a week after major surgery and the third was just because I could. Sharing 1 mountain in the range with folks who prefer to drive up it is not a bad thing.
.....Someday, like many others who joined WB in the early years, I may dry up and dissapear....

There's also a bumper sticker on cafe press: "This car could not climb Mt Washington"
While I was on the site I bought one I've been wanting since last year for my good and faithful 2003 Astro van "This car drove the Alaska Highway - both ways dammit!"

There's no controversy, Toolshed. At least not from me. I regard the auto road as one of those odd regional anachronisms, like Gatlinburg. I've traveled the auto road and the cog railway several times, and climbed the silly mountain every which way. OK with me to have the tourist-trap stuff concentrated on this one hill. There are plenty of hills left for those seeking wilder places. You should come by and climb Tuckermans on Memorial Day, along with the thousands of other crazies who come to ski the bowl (or to watch others attempt it.) What a zoo!

I have to question the love of backpacking and nature for anyone who thinks that a highway to the top of one the Northeast's few great mountains is a good idea.
