How about the spring? Is it flowing?

The spring was flowing as of about 5 days ago. I really like the position of this shelter as the orientation really cut down on the drafts.

We camped there a few weeks ago and the spring was flowing fine. Nice place to stay.

Stopped here with the intent of spending the night on a SOBO section hike. Found a character there that some NOBO's at Rock Spring Hut had told me they encountered at another shelter to the South. He was busy decorating the hut with empty beer/hard cider containers and smoking cigarette tobacco from a corncob pipe. Said his two friends had went for supplies. Decided to push on to the Lewis Mt. campground, an easy mile away. At the campstore there was the exact brand and size of "supplies" that he was decorating the shelter with after consuming the contents. Spring was not flowing but there was a small pool of water at the pipe. One of the tent sites had been converted into a fire pit with logs to sit on.

I spent a quiet night at the tent sites above the hut in mid April. No one else was there - in the hut or the sites. The location probably suffers in the warmer months from its proximity to Skyline Drive and easy access for people who want a party location.

Was there last week - was the Blue Blaze Trail from the AT to the shelter removed? I spent many minutes looking for it while on the AT. I finally went to the fire road north and got to the Hut that way. From the Hut I then couldn't find it that way either. I passed by the designated camping sites and then the trail seems to disappear. I had to go back out the fire road. Just curious. Thanks!

Came thru Shelter on 8/26/15 and the Spring was a little mud puddle. Best Chance for water in area is Lewis Mt Campground about 1 mile south.
