Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of familiar trail names in this thread, glad to see everyone is alive and well.

You should travel from OH to the REd River Gorge in eastern KY. Good hiking and/or rockclimbing.

LOVE the 4 sisters. They are a great group of young women. We met them way down near Springer and saw them almost every night for the first week or so. We have continued to keep in touch with them since via email and followed their register entries over the course of our entire trip. We knew from the start that these 4 had what it takes to make it and in my mind they are 2008 thru-hikers (and that is coming from a purist).

With a Feb 29 start and the extremes of weather we had this year, this tough group of wonderful women endured quite a bit and I for one am POSITIVE they could have finished if they wanted to . . . the point here is that they chose to wait until next year so they could finish in the high spirits for which they were known and I find that more mature than most of us are capable of (including me and I am almost 15 years older than them).

Jason, your posts don't inspire me to think positively about you, it is unfortunate that your attitude towards them and in general is so negative, maybe 4 months in the woods each year isn't cutting it for you?

Anyway, too bad my first post has to be to "defend" these ladies against an uncalled for "attack" but oh well . . .

Great to see so many familiar names . . . I will post a short update on our trip soon.

Hotcheese! Birdbath! The first time I met you two(if I'm thinking of the right people) was at Logan Airport in Boston! Great to hear from you two again.

yes, Kirby . . . you are thinking of the right people. You were the first fellow 2008 thruhiker we met, seems like a lifetime ago and yet like yesterday.

You tell him Hot Cheese, that Jason is a nob. You're a pelican mate.
