    Thumbs up

I had mailed a big box of Tastykakes and other treats to him which he picked up at KM, so he and the other hikers devoured them on Saturday night - some had never heard of Tastykakes which Jester thought was pretty funny. There was a fire just north of them and firemen were escorting hikers on the trail. The firemen were now saying it was okay so some hikers took off and were trying to get through the area. Jester's heading out of Kennedy Meadows on Monday and will be starting through the Sierras - and back to cold weather. He'll try to call next week from Independence, CA

    Default Sunrise at Mount Whitney

Jester just called. He was at the top of Mount Whitney, about 14,480 feet, to watch the sun rise. He said it was spectacular. They started hiking from Guitar Lake at 2:00 a.m. and got to the top just before the sun came up. As he was talking to me, he was precariously balanced on the eastern face of the mountain to make the call. Coyote went up to the top last night and camped there. Jester's with Ratatouille, Smooth Criminal, Dave and Huff-N-Puff. They're going over Forester Pass tomorrow and down the other side. He'll probably be in Independence, CA on Sunday and will call from there. He sounds really good and is, of course, having a great time.

    Default Jester's Whereabouts

As of Monday, 6/23, Jester was in Independence, CA. After being on Mt. Whitney watching the sunrise last Friday, staying up there a couple of hours and playing Twister while up there, he went through Forester Pass, through Kings Canyon, which he said was absolutely the most gorgeous place he has ever seen, then on to Kearsarge Pass, through Onion Valley and into Independence. He's hiking with Squatch, Coyote, Ratatouille and Gazelle. SOL and Marty McFly are a day behind them, so they've probably caught up by now. They heard someone had died on Whitney a day or two after they had been there. A ranger told them someone collapsed and the rangers did CPR, but the person died. In the small world category - at Kearsarge Pass, there was a group of day hikers and Jester got talking to one of them whose trail name was Honey Bear. He said he had hiked the PCT in 1996 and the best trail name he ever heard was Blister Sister. Jester, of course, said he knew her, but Honey Bear said there must be more than one hiker with that name. Jester said, no, I think there's only one. Honey Bear said he remembers Blister Sister and Fiddlehead. Anyway, Jester's next stop will be Tuolumne Meadows, CA, probably around 7/3. He's doing great and is having a great time.

    Default June 21

Oh, forgot to mention that Jester, Coyote and Huff-n-Puff did hike naked - except for boots, gators, ice axes and their packs - on June 21st - through a snow field - got quite the unusual sunburn patterns going.

    Default twister

Mt. Whitney watching the sunrise last Friday, staying up there a couple of hours and playing Twister while up there,
That reminded me that he told me he was taking the twister mat with him. Is he using it as a ground cloth, also? Hope he has video of that!!!

    Default Twister

Hi, Marsha. They stayed at the top of Mt. Whitney for a couple of hours and did, indeed, play Twister while up there. Only Jester - he knows how to have a good time!

I love my friends and their families

I have yet to meet anyone besides Jester, that I could truly say would appreciate doing something like this with as much passion.

There is no room for anyone else in this world like him.

Default Shua says Hi to Jester

Here is a pic of Shua who noticed Jester on Mary's balcony. I was on deck and we got to chatting. He's taken some more unexpected zeroes since that meeting. He is hiking back out today after helping Mary do some prep work for the feed and will be back for the feed.
Anyway, to Jester, Shua says Hi!
