    Default Four Pines Hostel

Is it still open? Nothing on it in any of the guides I have, never stayed there, and curious as I am hiking in the area in two weeks.

It's back open. I stayed and slacked between 324 and Daleville last weekend. Donation only, but $2/mile for shuttling (a fair price).

I stayed there in June with about 50 other hikers. It's very much open.

Four pines is open. It's known to be a party spot but I doubt it will be a problem this time of year.

I stayed there a couple of years ago. Joe is great. I think labeling the place a "Party site" is kind of harsh, but Joe can be an enabler, in a good way. He runs you to local places to shop or eat. If you are of the beer drinking persuasion, I will join you.

I stayed there in July 2014. It was interesting to say the least. The multi car garage out back is furnished with every type of miscellaneous piece of garage sale furniture you could possibly sleep on. Claim a "bed" early to get the best option. They have an old beat up van you can drive to the gas station for resupply especially or diner or whatever. The window on the drivers wouldn't roll up so I what to do if it rained and they said get wet. That evening a "hiker" with a drinking problem threw a temper tantrum after getting evicted for over staying his welcome. Fun times.

It was open when I was going through the area in June.

It Is a garage that has beds and a shower in it. Sent a package there had no problem receiving it. No problem with the owner or the facility.

    It is what it is.

    Best,

Parked our vehicle there in April of 2015 for free. Great place! Here is the trip report talking about parking, etc. http://www.backpackingengineer.com/a...-va-624-day-9/

When I was there it was "For donation". We paid $20 for 2 cars for a week.

The whole thin is "by donation" with only the shuttles having a set price.
