    Default First thru's for 08

I ran into Trek just south of gathland state park thurs. afternoon. He started mid January, and he thought that he was the first one to Harpers Ferry this year- does anyone know if anyone is ahead of him?

Tabasco claimed he was one of the front runners but I saw him in SW Virginia (Thomas Knob shelter near Damascus) on March 7th. Trek is already in Maryland? Wow.

I thought that was pretty impressive to make it that far already, although he did mention this being his 6th thru hike. I stopped at the ATC, and they said one other had been through before Trek, but I am not sure who?

Didn't Trek go real early last year? Or maybe '06? Seemed like he was first then, too, him and Ghost? Can't remember.

I am not sure, this was the first time I met him, (really cool guy, btw), but he did mention that he likes to hike early to avoid the "crowd".

No snow at all. It was beautiful the last couple of days.Trek said that so far the only snow he has had to deal with was 6 to 8 inches in the smokies. He said va was snow free while he was going through.

I doubt there is any at Harpers Ferry, their low yesterday was 46, they had a little rain yesterday, Loundon Heights isn't that much higher in elevation than Hapers Ferry if I remember the topo right
