matthewski
Matthewski made the best bacon pancakes and french toast for folks at the Long Trail Festival. He's the best! Great meeting you finally...
Matthewski spent most of last weekend sitting cross-legged in front of his teepee, bent over an alcohol stove. (A gallon can of denatured alcohol in the teepee.) It started with bacon, I believe. Moved on to french toast with jam at one point. Last seen working on a huge fat steak.
There was live music playing 500 feet away, but it seems to me a lot of the thru hikers never left the orange-fenced gulag, except for bodily functions and for a game of ultimate frisbee on Saturday afternoon.
Was there something happening at the "gulag" you were oblivious to?
Just wonderin'

Hehe. Walk 1700 miles from Springer to Vermont. Walk ten miles off the the trail for a music festival (granted, the festival was free.) But too... uhh, otherwise occupied... to walk another 0.1 mile to properly hear the music. Hey, I'm not critical. I just think it's a bit odd, is all.

He fried up the bacon and then removed it from the pan and poured off the grease. Then pancake batter was poured from the baggy and topped with several pieces of bacon and cooked to perfection. Finally it was topped with strawberry jam and cinnamon sugar. The guy sure knows how to hit a hungry hiker where it matters!
Awesome festival...
