Default Wrongway 08 and Chiefdaddy are Out of Here!!!

Yes, it's official, Wrongway 08 and Chiefdaddy are headed to Katahdin. It was a perfect 60 degrees on the summit of Springer Mountain.

I shuttled Wrongway from Gainesville to Springer with a quick stop at Waffle House for breakfast. Thanks for the breakfast Wrongway.

Chiefdaddy was leaving with "Chief" as his parents wished him a safe farewell.

I have to tell you, Springer Mountain was packed with hikers heading out, and Springer Fever was everywhere. I met Mossman, a Thru from 1997 doing the Springer loop.

I was on Springer leading a hike for a local hiking group and hoping to meet as many WBers as possible. My hike took me down the Benton MacKaye and up the AT. I must have just missed Wrongway as the hikers I did meet said he left ahead of them.

I did meet Solace and KTR, two hikers that I have crossed paths with in 2004 and 2005. Looking forward to seeing them in Franklin at the April Fool's Bash. Anyone who hasn't gone to the Bash should try to make it. Great fun and I am bringing my peppermint patties for the thrus.

Also met Regular Brian from 04 who now goes by Mojo starting another thru with his girlfriend, Hot Cheese.

Once again ran into August (05 and 07) starting another thruhike.

It was great fun running into so many people that I have met on the trail in the past.

I also met WBer Hungry with two other gentlemen.

    Good luck to all!

Have a wonderful hike. When you get to New England I might do some miles with you.

Great pics SD ... did Wrongway do the approach trail? Thanks for the update. Looks like the folks that decided to start yesterday had a perfect send off. Wow a 60 degree day!

He did the Approach Trail in spirit, but the body was not participating. Oh Doggie, today was around 75 degrees. This is March, right?

Yes, the trail is busy today. I hiked Unicoi to Tray and passed over 30 hikers including 22 thru-hikers.
