I've been thinking about it. I have two large blow downs and a few hundred feet of side hill to start shaping up.

You might consider applying for jobs you are not particularly excited about and go on interviews for the practice before the dream job interview. Besides, sometimes the not-so-exciting job turns out to be a lot more than you thought it might be. Also, never say "no" until you get an offer. Standard advice here, but thought it might be worth mentioning.

I am going to. I just got a letter today from one of the places I put in a resume. The offer ain't a great check - but this place has lots of overtime and the practice wouldn't be bad.

As to this other interview though, it sounds more like an Army board and instructor eval sort of thing.
