    Default Open Fire Ban in Effect in GW and TJ National Forests

    I came across this announcement this morning on the PATC Home page.

    Open fires prohibited in GW and Jefferson Natl Forests http://potomacappalachian.org/templa...pdf_button.png http://potomacappalachian.org/templa...rintButton.png http://potomacappalachian.org/templa...mailButton.png Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire or any stove or grill that uses solid fuel such as wood, charcoal, or coal is not permitted on any portion of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests in Virginia or West Virginia. These restrictions will remain in effect from Saturday, October 13, 2007 until Saturday, December 15, 2007.
    Camp or backpacking stoves that use liquid or gas fuels will still be permitted.
