Well, there may be a few "trail identity thefts" and a lot more simple, innocent, duplications.

Usta know a hiker named "S**t for Brains" don't see anyone stealing that one.

yeah, what about what someone said earlier, color it up a little, like: " . . . , AT Iceman, A Iceman, Cool Iceman, Frozen Iceman, First Iceman, Iceman I or Iceman Jr., Frozen Iceman, Popsickle Iceman . . . . :-)

How about using 'Assman'? Kramer used that name on one of the Steinfeld episodes. I have heard of nobody using that name out on the trail.
I doubt if Micheal Richards would care if you used it. Then again maybe he would.
I thought the original "Iceman" was George Gervin.
I think you should park yourself at the trailhead and warn each hiker not to take your trail name. that should solve it. Here ar ea few trail names that no one probably has (as of yet)
meltdown
sadsack
Hissyfit
Assmunch
Panty buncher
.....Someday, like many others who joined WB in the early years, I may dry up and dissapear....
It may sound funny or whiney now, but at the time the guy who took it had already masqueraded as another hiker and the stories were he was wanted for domestic violence, hence he changed his name. I was stuck explaining I was not that turd.
For those of you who set people straight on the trail (and here) last year thank you. To the rest of you -- who cares? Reading these comments makes it obvious why there have been issues here. Try hiking instead of bashing people.
The heaviest thing I carried was my attitude.
Montani semper liberi - Mountaineers are always free
Desire is the main ingredient for success
Iceman now that you are in Fl. it should be Sun Man

If your holding onto a trail name that insistently just walk the AT with laminated flyers explaining the situation and post it every 1/4 mile. Or pick a name that didn't come from Top Gun and create something original. I mean I don't really care but if I meet another guy Homer that's all good because we all choose our trailnames or are given them due to circumstances regarding our personality or place & time in life, with that in mind meeting someone exactly like me would be a pleasure, two me's... not a bad idea.
You can be "Toolshed" if you like (or just plain old "Tool")...I find this whole thread very funny!!!!

Who is Wingfoot?
I once met another lunchbox and we had to fight to the death of course I won, its the only way. two icemen enter only one may leave. or you could just get over it.
Maybe you can become "The hiker formally Known as Iceman" or perhaps Ice Cream Cone? I can't believe this is a serious post....
There are so many miles and so many mountains between here and there that it is hardly worth thinking about

I've been WalkingStick since 1975. So I changed it to be a little more unique by adding "75" to it.
WalkingStick"75"
