Anyone thru-hike Internation AT?

I just finished listening to an interview with Scott Williamson where he mentions the IAT. I was unaware of it's existence until now. Has anyone else on here done this? I had been planning to go back to portland after my thru in 07, then take a ferry over to Acadia, camp for a few days, then take a ferry into Nova Scotia. From there I'd hop on a bus up to Halifax and see some of Canada. I like this idea of the IAT though just as much. Hiking up through maine into Quebec. A few people have. Nimbelwill Nomad pops to mind, though I don't believe he was the first. In 1998 he hiked the entire Appalachian range, from Florida to Cape Gaspe. I met him that year and hiked around him for a few days. Great guy.

I think Stumpknocker is planning on continuing on from the Big K this year. Although, he did break his arm and took some time off so I don't know if he's still gonna keep on going.

When I was up in Newfoundland last summer, they were surveying for the Newfoundland extension of the IAT. I highly recommend the Gros Morne Range for backpacking. Newfoundland is amazing.

The problem with this trail is that it is poorly marked i believe in the canadian section according to Andrew Skurka's trailcast. I think it would be hard to plan for this, especially with resupplies, etc.

In Maine and New Brunswick it was very well marked, no problems back in 2002 for us. Quebec was a bit tough a couple of times but we still got thru by remembering where we were headed towards, the sea or the mountains. There is trail being put on the ground in Newfoundland but it is not open as yet. When we did it we followed the highway on the western side of the island as well as Belle Isle and a 30 mile loop thru Gros Morne park. It was an awesome hike in the Gros Morne section. You hike up to the top Western Brook Fjord and a sunny day it is quite a sight! We want to go back and be tourists next time along with some day hiking.

Yeah, I hiked this trail back in 2004. If you go back far enough in the journal section of this site, you can find my account. An interesting walk - absolutely spectacular through the Quebec mountains. Except for one or two occasions, trail marking was adequate. I made it, didn't I? Pm me if you require specific info.
