Default Maine Shelters near a road

Tripper and I are headed to Maine next week for a little R & R, sightseeing and AT hiking. Katahdin is one hike we hope to do but would also like to see some of the Maine shelters. Hiking time is limited to day hikes only. With that in mind, are there any of the Maine shelters / lean to's that could be reached in an hour or so?
Yeah, I know I could look this up myself but I'm getting lazy in my older years. Thanks for any help.

Don't forget in June especially after all the rains my favorite dayhike is the exploration of Gulf Hagas. An absolute must for a nice dayhike just a bit south of Katahdin. No shelter on the hike though, but then again unless you go to Chimney Pond, no shelter on Katahdin either!
