Default Summer Section of the PCT

I would like to thru-hike the PCT, but not sure I can retire in time from my teaching job.

Since we have an extra-long summer next year (May 24 until late August sometime), I was thinking about doing as big of a chunk as possible.

Contemplating starting in Truckee or Chester with the goal of making it to the border. In an average year, what would snow levels be like on the southern end? Would I be hiking North with peak mosquitoes for three months?

Any other ideas for good 3 month sections to complete?

If north bound you want to be done by September. If south just go.

Seems to me you are on the right track logistically.

Sorry...should have specified. The plan is to go north.

I'm sort of wondering about non-typical challenges I might face, given that I am assuming I would be ahead of the normal hiker bulge. (snow, bugs, trail town services, etc.)
