Default Hostel / Shuttle Services - Daleville, VA

I'm planning a section hike for this spring and plan to do about 108 miles from VA 630 "Sinking Creek" to VA 130 "Big Island, VA".

Because of a bad back - I will likely need to slackpack much of the way.

I was hoping to find a hostel / Shuttle provider in Daleville, VA. from which to base my trip.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Would suggest avoiding 4 Pines Hostel in that area. Dirty and druggy when I was there Sept ‘21.

Better than staying with kung-fuy with an attitude.

I used Homer Witcher for shuttles there, he’s a great guy and as a bonus, he and his Wife maintain a large number of shelters, so he really knows the trail (Also a thruhiker and still runs trails in his 80’s.) The hotel just off the trail is also very hiker friendly, great staff. He uses a flip phone so you need to call him.

For a shuttler, go with Homer Witcher (540-266-4849). As previously stated, he's a great guy with tons of knowledge to offer on that section (including slackpacking guidance). Very reasonable rates, as well.

Yeah, I'd recommend Homer W. too. Also, if there is a day or two you can't line up a shuttler, try Uber. They run out there and I've used them out of Daleville before.
    It is what it is.

Also give Outdoor Trails a call. They're right by the Daleville highway crossing on 220 and will be up to speed on any local info.

Homer's your guy for sure. I hooked up with Homer on my section hike to that area several years ago and again, to repeat the section this past August with my brother. Once again, he was very helpful in helping with a shuttle.
