Default Shelter Closure – Seth Warner Shelter

    From the ATC website:

The current Seth Warner Shelter (NOBO mile 1,603.6) will be deconstructed and permanently closed starting on August 22, 2022. A new shelter will be built approximately two miles north of the former Seth Warner site and will be available for camping in the fall of this year.
Hikers should stay out of the deconstruction zone and plan not to camp at the current shelter site to allow for revegetation. The closest established overnight sites are:

    • Southbound: Sherman Brook Primitive Campsite (NOBO mile 1,598.5)
    • Northbound: Congdon Shelter (NOBO mile 1,610.8)

Dispersed camping is permitted following Green Mountain National Forest regulations. Learn more about camping regulations along the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) here.

It's all good in the woods.

There are also the Brassie Brook and Riga Shelters in CT that will be taken down and rebuilt between now and October, tenting still allowed.

Hopefully the Riga site won’t change, but yeah the shelter is tired.
