Default BMT National Scenic Trail Bill Introduced in the House

    https://cohen.house.gov/media-center...enic-trail-act

From the BMTA newsletter (from May):

“Representative Steve Cohen (Democrat from Tennessee), Representative Jim Cooper (Democrat from Tennessee), Representative Scott DesJarlais (Republican from Tennessee) and Chuck Fleischmann (Republican from Tennessee) are co-sponsors of a House Bill which, if approved by Congress and signed by the President, will designate the Benton MacKaye Trail as a National Scenic Trail.

The bill was introduced in the House this morning!

Congressman Cohen announced the Introduction of the Benton MacKaye Scenic Trail Act in his press release this afternoon.

The prestigious designation is reserved for trails that epitomize the stunning, natural beauty of America’s wide array of natural landscapes. The trails also offer outstanding recreational opportunities. Only 11 trails have received this honor, including: the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail.”

It looks like the bill picked up a few more co-sponsors: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-...ouse-bill/7884

It's fortunate that bills related to trails can still pick up bipartisan support.

Think I will email my congressperson right now to ask her to support this.
