Thread: 321 to Damascus

    Default 321 to Damascus

Sharing this question from another thread…..I’m seeing conflicting info online…..does anyone have updates on the availability (and wisdom) of camping between 321 and Damascus? I’ve been avoiding this section, but seems like its open again. Has anyone hiked it recently?

There was a camping ban in place through part of that section last year, between Double Spring Gap and Backbone Rock Trail. Camping ban was lifted in January. We rearranged our section from Wilbur Dam Road to Damascus last summer because of the camping ban, ended up doing that part in a day hike, from 421/Low Gap to Damascus. Very doable in a day. Did see a bear that day. We did the other direction in two days, Low Gap to Wilbur Dam Road, camped at the tent site after Turkeypen Gap.

Thanks! We might wait a bit longer for that section to make sure things are ok, but glad to hear it’s open again.
