Default Manhunt for Brian Laundrie; some think he could be in Appalachians

There is a federal arrest warrant & manhunt for Brian Laundrie, a “person of interest” in the death of Gabby Petito. The FBI says Laundrie is wanted for "use of unauthorized access device" related to his activities following the death of Gabby Petito. Brian & Gabby were on a cross-country trip visiting & hiking at national parks when she was murdered (He returned to his Florida home.) He has been "missing" for the past 2 weeks. A friend of Gabby’s has posted on social media that Brian at one time spent 3 months in the Appalachians; he is used to long-distance backpacking. There is a theory that since he’s been “missing” for so long, he could be along the AT. Attached is a pic of him.

Yup. Start a sentence with "Some people think" and finish it with the most stupid idea you can think of and it will probably be a true (but pointless) statement.

A retired FBI agent was interviewed by Brian Entin, a correspondent for NewsNationNow, last night. The retired FBI agent has an opinion that when Brian Laundrie and his parents departed home with a camper van that the family was helping him set up a campsite somewhere in seclusion. That happened a day or so prior to Brian going "missing", now about 2 weeks ago. That FBI agent thinks the story that he's in the Florida swamp is a ruse. I am not well versed in technology, so I an unable to post the link to that interview, but it is on Brian Entin's Twitter feed.

Granted, there is absolutely no indication he is on the AT. It's just that so much of this case has been opened up by random sightings and that it is conceivable he could be in the Georgia Appalachians, folks suggested it be posted somewhere that AT hikers may learn about it.

So, keep an eye out for a young, average height, average build, white guy, likely with facial hair, wearing a hat, and carrying a UL backpack somewhere along the AT. Got it. I expect there will be reports of his location coming in shortly.

So true! And this disinformation and wild speculation will only hinder the attempt to find him.

I hope, should it be determined that he killed his girlfriend, that his parents do some hard time as well.

It is called "aiding & abetting" and is seriously frowned upon by the legal system.

Not a crime until he had been accused of a crime. Hence the term "person of interest" which has no legal significance. At the time he disappeared the body had not been found and this was technology a missing persons case. You can't be charged for aiding a criminal for actions taken before there was evidence of a crime. A similar standard applies to evidence. Our university lawyers had a training session for unit heads where they told us to keep no records and shred every. They said if you shred a document AFTER the FBI asks for it, it's called obstruction of justice. BEFORE, it's called good record keeping.

He should have been a person of interest to begin with and never should have been able to disappear like he's done.

He was a person of interest from the beginning. Unfortunately, they couldn't hold him for anything without proof. Yesterday, they finally figured out how to arrest him. He used Gabby Petito's credit card to withdraw $1,000 and now there is an arrest warrant out for him on that charge. Of course, they couldn't care less about the credit card charge. They just want him in custody to interrogate about the homicide.

His home is 50 miles from where I live and this has turned into a media circus here. The feds have some information not available to the public that seems to point to his being in a vast preserve near North Port, FL. Quite frankly, I think he and his parent created a diversion and he is far from North Port now. I guess we'll find out sooner or later.

Worst case scenario he got his passport and flew to a country that doesn't deport or extradite.

This would be my guess as well, since his folks have covered for him from the start.
