    Default GA Section Recommendation

Just curious - Looking for a 2-3 night hike in the GA section. Any suggestions appreciated.

What kind of mileage are you looking to do? Out and back or end to end. GA can be tough to do a 2-3 day if you don't want to do any road walks. John's Mountain overlook to Dalton 256.7 - 283.1 after that, Dennis Mill trailhead to the terminus is the only other long section that has minimal road walking.

Probably need to do an out and back due to lack of road crossings.

20-30 miles total, and I don't want to do any road walks. I know this may rule out the Pinhoti, but I thought I could get expert advice quick here, then decide if it's this trail or another.

For an out and back, you could start at GA136, head NOBO and turn around at W Dug Gap Mountain Road and head SOBO back to GA136. Or cut that shorter if need be. I remember it being a fair amount of ridge walking. I almost ended up hypothermic when I did that chunk in pouring rain and 35 degrees outside.

Plenty of road crossings in Ga to do a 20-30 mile section end to end.

Also there is no road walking in GA

Springer to Neel Gap: 31 Miles

    Neel to Unicoi: 21 Miles

    Hogpen to Dicks: 31 Miles

Thanks Gambit. My apologies - I put this in the Pinhoti forum, but I should have also put Pinhoti it in the title of my thread. I'm looking for non-road sections in the GA parts of the Pinhoti Trail.

    Thanks!

That sounds like a very possible option. I've seen the 136 trailhead and thought that might work. I'll hopefully do it in warmer weather!
