Planning a 2 day run/hike in Shenandoah National Park. Thinking about going NOBO from South River picnic area to Sewell Hollow Overlook on Day 1 and then on to Compton Gap on day 2. Or some variation of this plan, i.e. maybe we go to Compton Gap on day 1 because we've left a car at Sewell Hollow and then do South River to Sewell Hollow on day 2. We're not planning to stay in the park at night.

We're targetting 26.2 miles and 5,500-5,900 feet of verts each day. There seems to be plenty of water sources along the route and a few stores so we can travel very light. We'd like to stay towards the northern end of the park.

Does this seem like a good 2 day route?

Can you leave a car overnight at the Sewell Hollow Overlook parking lot?

Thanks!
