What apps do most people delete off their phones to shave weight?
Seems like I won’t need TripAdvisor or Home Depot, stuff like that.

When heading out for a hard trip, I usually drain the battery of the smartphone to save weight.
Oh wow, that’s huge. Makes me think is there a software package like LighterPack, but for phones?
I trim the edges off the corners of the protective case & buff the screen to a high sheen.
Be Prepared
I download all apps onto a flash drive and upload when I return home.
Switch to LTE (Lighter Than Everything) mode and you can save up to 5g depending on how new your phone is.

I think I’ll also empty out my email inbox and deleted folders and tell people not to email until I get back.
If your phone has a 2200mAhr battery, an there are 1000 mA per A and an Amp is 1 C/s and there are 60 min/hr and 60 sec/min and it's a 3.7 V battery and a Volt is a J/C and a J is a kg m^2/sec^2 and E=mc^2 and c is 300,000,000 m/s, that converts to a savings of about 10 pg!
Did you hear that?! 10 pg! Drain ‘em down folks!
I bring a picture of a stove boiling water on my phone so I can save weight and leave the stove at home
I try not to breathe as deeply, so I weigh less.
Well that has me wondering if you could get a helium balloon the right size to “carry” your phone for you weight wise? Is this something the UL crowd is keeping to themselves?
Or this? https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...et/3998545002/
When I want to hike by myself and avoid crowds, I delete all my contacts.
If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.
I rebooted my phone, but into trail runners.
Every time I poop I feel like I saved $500 buying some new cuben fiber thing. Also, using that same concept, not buying those 2 Snickers actually saves you $350 in lightweight gear.
What’s the best way to empty my “junk” folder in accordance with LNT?
Since this is the UL forum and not the "hiking humor" forum, and all joking aside (and I love post #8), I do think it is actually possible to "save weight" with proper App management... Not sure about other folks, but I have had apps on my phones that have chewed up the phone battery on occasion, like apps that become active when a phone re-boots (I turn mine off at night) or other casual App uses.
I see folks out there with a pound or more of auxiliary batteries, I just got done hiking with a guy carrying 40K mAH of extra juice. I get by for well over a week on a 4.2 ounce 6700 mAH battery. Over a pound of savings! That's, let's see: 16*28.3*1x10^15....
340,000,000,000,000,000 picograms!
Watch those juice-sucking background apps. (on my Samsung, a quick check of "battery/device care" under settings just identified that my "AndroZip" file management app was currently devouring my mAH's, but easy to "put to sleep").
